Based on English novelist, Margery Sharp’s ‘The Rescuers’ series, The Rescuers was in production for four years (an improvement on the ridiculous sixteen months in production that was Robin Hood). The film marks the bridge between the experienced, older animators and the new, younger animators, with the next film, The Fox and the Hound being the film in which the torch was officially passed (but more on that next time).
